Dental Services:Implants
Carus Dental offers a complete range of services related to dental implants. Implants provide a way in which one or more missing teeth may be replaced. After an implant has been placed into a person's jawbone (in order to act as an artificial root), a crown, one end of a bridge, or a denture can be attached to it.
Implant dentistry usually involves a team approach for the best long-term success. Carus Dental, being a group of dentists and specialists, is a great choice for implant dentistry. Following an initial evaluation that includes a comprehensive exam, x-rays, and consultation with members of the implant team, one of our team of oral surgeons or periodontists typically will place the dental implant in a relatively painless procedure. After a period to allow for healing and for the bone to fuse to the implant, your general dentist will then use the implant as an anchor to attach a crown or a denture.
In many ways, this procedure is the closest someone can ever come to having their natural tooth replaced. Ask your dentist if a missing tooth can be replaced with an implant or if a denture can be made more secure with the use of implants.
Expert Advice
After an implant has been placed, it is still important to treat that implant as if it were a natural tooth. Proper dental hygiene (brushing and flossing) are still essential. Also, it important to have your dental providers examine and clean your implant. Your dentist will make sure that the bone and gums around the implant are healthy and that the crown is securely attached. Your dental hygienist will clean around the implant with the use of special tools.
Did You Know?
Did you know that the first dental implants were done over a thousand years ago? Archeologists have found a Mayan skull that dates back to 600 AD — which belonged to a young woman in her twenties. The lower jaw had three small pieces of seashell that were shaped like teeth and were placed into the sockets of her three missing lower front teeth.
