Why a Pediatric Dentist?

In order to achieve the specialist level Pediatric Dentists must train an additional two to three years beyond the four years of dental school. They are the best suited to treat the unique needs of children and their developing dentition. A specialist will be able to treat your child in a safe and comfortable manner.

At Carus Kids our goal is to help all children feel good about visiting the dentist and to teach them how to care for their teeth. Pleasant visits to the dental office promote the establishment of trust and confidence in your child that will last a lifetime.

Why are primary teeth so important?

  • Primary or baby teeth help your child chew and enjoy meals.
  • They help with speech development.
  • A healthy smile will help your child feel more confident.
  • Healthy baby teeth saves space for the permanent teeth. Early loss can lead to crowding and malocclusion.

When should my child have his first dental visit?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends the first dental visit shortly after the first tooth erupts and no later than the child's first birthday. Beginning tooth and mouth examinations early may lead to detection of early stages of tooth decay that can be easily treated.
